Migrant Stories Canada in collaboration with Grace & Nelly Project is fundraising to raise money to empower and educate women and girls in communities in Zimbabwe, to also improve the elevation of newcomer voices in Canada.
As a fundraiser, Immaculate Nabisere – Founder & CEO of Migrant Stories Canada & Ruvimbo Chimutsa, Founder & President will walk 100 KMs. This walk is very instrumental and a symbol for many. Many refugees walk miles seeking safety from conflicts. Women and girls in rural Africa walk long distances to fetch water or firewood to feed their families. Young girls walk miles to go to school only to walk back home due to menstruation or lack of pads to stay in school. We will be walking this strenuous walk to raise money for our causes.
Great drinks, and even better company, in support of The Grace & Nelly Project's initiatives to empower women and girls in Zimbabwe through sustainable projects at a grassroots level. This is also a chance to hear about all the work we have been doing over the past year!
Join us for hor d’oeuvres, cash bar, and local entertainment!

Given the rise of cases, especially the risk posed by the new variant, we have decided to move Cocktails for a Cause to a virtual-only event. This is out of an abundance of caution to ensure we are staying safe and abiding by public guidelines. We are so sorry for any inconvenience caused. A link will be sent out to everyone who purchased a ticket or donated money for the event.
If you would still like to join us tomorrow, please donate (no amount is too small) and we will send you a link to join us for cocktails virtually! We hope to see you all on Saturday!
Online festivities start at 2:30 pm. You will get your link to the event Friday.
